Celebrate the spirit of ideas worth spreading at the Official After Party of TEDxToronto 2011.Tickets are now available on a first-come, first-served basis, after back-to-back sold out years of over 700 attendees.
The city’s historical roundhouse will be transformed into a Dark Carnival of the Unexpected, as you share in the surprise and delight of a TED-like experience. We promise a night of art, entertainment and conversation – with curated performers, installations and music.
You will have the unique opportunity to meet the conference’s speakers, delegates, viewers and organizers. There will also be cash bars provided for your enjoyment.
The after party includes:
The 194 Group – A music agency of award-winning DJs, producers, musicians, taste-makers, and market professionals, featuring DJ Wristpect x Sir Lancelot x JB Allen x DJ Mattice.
IlluminAir Entertainment – A team of professional multi-disciplinary performing artists who have been featured on local and international stages.
Circus Alchemy – A collective of circus and dance performers offering specialized physical theatre; fire performance, stilting, unique site animation, and aerial dance.
John Kameel Farah – Named by NOW Magazine as Best Pianist 2006 for his unique fusion of Baroque counterpoint, improvisation, Arabic music and Electronica.
DJ Damn Aykroyd – A music maker extraordinaire, his tastes are diverse in genre and energy; cornerstones are 70′s funk, instrumental and conscious hip-hop, and various electronic bands.
The Heart Machine – A collaborative project by interactive arts (i.a.) that combines sculptural structures, flame effects and technology to create compelling interactive art.
Dodecahedron – The art piece is a large icosahedral steel frame made of struts and rope that can be manipulated by participants enjoying it (intended to be climbed, rolled, etc.).
Take a Picture – To the naked eye, you’ll only be able to see these paintings as blank canvas, with nothing on it. The only way to experience the artwork is to photograph it.
Springfree Trampoline – Defy gravity on a trampoline with no springs. How is that possible? It’s no magic trick. Come for a jump.
Aveda Institute – With all the excitement, lipstick wears away, hair falls flat and unwanted frizz crashes the party. Handshakes and high fives alone have hands in need of some TLC.
Brandon Love – As the world’s first Student of Wonder, Brandon Love combines his loves of philosophy, psychology and magic to create and perform mind-tickling illusions.
Shawnathan – Set out to create a new genre of magic in the modern world called “Metamagic”, Shawnathan is currently writing his first book entitled “Metamagic – A Methodology of Practice”.
The Spontaneous Prose Store – Give K.H. Glick a topic, title, or first line and she will create an on-the-spot poem for you. They’ve appeared previously in Forum and 16th & Mission Review.
All tickets are non-refundable. This event has a wristband policy on alcohol sales for ages 19+ only. Personal information collected will only be used to contact you by TEDxToronto, and will not be provided to any third parties.
