TEDxToronto Opens Ticket Sales and Announces More Speakers for 2017 Conference

For immediate release – TORONTO (Sept. 11, 2017) – TEDxToronto is thrilled to announce the launch of ticket sales for its 9th annual conference, taking place on Friday October 27, 2017 at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works. For the first time, TEDxToronto has removed the delegate application process, allowing the public to access tickets directly. A limited number of subsidized tickets are also available for those in need of financial assistance.

TEDxToronto has also released three more speakers who will take the stage this October; From a teenage Olympic gold-medalist, to a tech visionary, and a celebrated climate scientist, this group is not only making waves, but creating a collective future to be proud of:

Penny OleksiakCanadian Olympic Champion
Competitive swimmer Penny Oleksiak, age 17, is Canada's youngest Olympic gold medalist and holds the national record for most Olympic medals in a single summer. In 2016 she won the Lou Marsh Award for Canada's top athlete. She is currently completing high school in Toronto and is a WE ambassador advocating for issues of inclusion, as well as mental and physical health for kids in Canada and Globally. She recently returned from a service trip to Kenya with ME to WE.

Satish KanwarVP Product, Shopify
Satish is a Canadian-born entrepreneur and currently the VP of Product at Shopify, the world's leading multi-channel commerce platform for SMEs. He is an active speaker, mentor, and angel investor in the Canadian startup community. Satish was featured on Forbes' 30 Under 30 for Retail and E-Commerce and All Star Alumni.

Linda MortschClimate Scientist
Linda Mortsch has devoted her career to addressing climate change issues. Since 1989, she has played a role in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and is a co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Linda has contributed to all Canadian National Climate Change Assessments, and has been widely recognized for her professional achievement and distinguished environmental and community leadership.
