As TEDxToronto looks to take over the city for one glorious day in September (get your delegate application in now!), there is one man who is leading a very different city takeover – Cameron Bailey. As the Artistic Director for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Cameron travels the world looking for films to bring to TIFF. The team at TEDxToronto can relate – we scour the city and engage with the community to find the best and brightest speakers, performers and demos possible to feature at our annual TEDxToronto Conference.
We are proud to announce that just weeks before TIFF, Cameron is taking time out of his busy schedule to speak at our next TEDxToronto Salon. Salons are intimate gatherings where hand-selected speakers present “ideas worth spreading” and spark discussion on issues of interest to the community. Cameron will be focusing on the “E” in TED, speaking about entertainment both in Toronto and globally. His talk is the second of the TEDxToronto 2013 Salon Series with Mark Surman of the Mozilla Foundation having kicked off the series in June.
Cameron Bailey has worked as a programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival for more than a decade, building relationships and the festival’s profile around the world. He has held positions as a journalist for top Canadian outlets, has curated film series for organizations such as the National Film Board of Canada, and has even co-written a Gemini-nomintaed screenplay.
Join Cameron and TEDxToronto on July 30th at 6:30 p.m. at Biz Media, 119 Spadina Avenue, Suite 1203. Seating is limited and only those with advance tickets will be admitted. Select TED.com videos will be screened and Cameron’s talk will be followed by breakout discussions.
Beverages are being provided by Budweiser and food is being provided by Barberian's Steak House. We are thankful for the generous partners, supporters and sponsors who help to make these kinds of events possible.
