TEDxToronto introduces the Salon: a monthly speaker series which brings some of the Toronto’s most inspired thinkers to share perspectives and spark conversation. Salon events will bring our community of innovators and instigators together in informal evening forums to learn and engage on provocative themes each month.
We are thrilled to kick off our 2013 Salon Series on June 26th, 2013 by exploring the theme of Technology with guest speaker Mark Surman, Executive Director of the Mozilla Foundation. A community activist and technology executive of 20+ years, Mark is passionate about using the open technology and ethos of the web to transform fields such as education, journalism and filmmaking. At Mozilla, Mark has overseen the development of Popcorn.js, the Open Badges initiative, launched by the US Secretary of Education; and the Knight Mozilla News Technology partnership, which seeks to reinvent the future of digital journalism.
The Wednesday, June 26th TEDxToronto's Salon: Technology will begin promptly at 6:30PM and will take place at The Working Group, 425 Adelaide St. W, Suite 300. Speaker presentations will be followed by breakout discussions and group activities. Food and drinks will be served thanks to Fancy Franks and Budweiser. And thanks to The Working Group for graciously sharing their space with us!
