Movies are great. Being outside is great. Beer is great.
The only thing better would be to put all these elements together in one cool downtown location. You know: alchemy!
TEDxToronto has been thrilled to partner with Open Roof, an outdoor music and film festival that gives Toronto movie lovers a summer experience like no other, highlighting independent filmmakers and artists from Canada and around the world.
Held at the Amsterdam Brewing Company, where films are screened against the stunning backdrop of the city skyline, The Open Roof Festival is a non-profit event, just like TEDxToronto. All the money raised from ticket sales supports Canada’s independent film production community.
On August 16 we co-presented Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, Open Roof's biggest night ever, with approximately 800 people in attendance. It was a gorgeous summer night and the TEDxToronto team was there in full effect, whooping it up for our featured speaker, urbanist Shawn Micallef.
Tomorrow night is the final screening of the season at Open Roof, the much-buzzed-about film Beasts of the Southern Wild. If the weather looks nice they'll release more online tickets starting at 10am. Additional tickets should be available at the door.
We want to thank the entire Open Roof team for a wonderful season, great films and awesome outdoor fun (did we mention there was beer?). We hope to work with them again next year!
