TEDxToronto is proud to announce its partnership with Open Roof Festival, Toronto’s only outdoor film and music series.
The third annual festival, which shows films every Thursday until the end of August, is a 10-week urban and cultural showcase that celebrates independent artists and filmmakers from Canada and abroad.
Each Thursday evening will begin with a musical performance, followed by a film screening at sundown.
TEDxToronto will be sponsoring two films, Indie Game: The Movie and Moonrise Kingdom.
Indie Game, which screens on Aug. 9, explores a new breed of struggling independent artist: the indie game designer. Refusing to work for major developers, these designers independently conceive, design and program their games in the hope that they may find success.
Moonrise Kingdom, which screens on Aug. 16, tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact and run away together into the wilderness. A Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom was featured at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
We’ll be screening a TED speaker video prior to these films. TEDsters will also be onsite to hand out goodies to festival attendees.
Tickets are available for purchase here. Shows frequently sell out in advance, so the festival recommends buying tickets ahead of time. There is also a rush line that opens at 8 p.m. on the day of the show.
Book now for the upcoming film, Hysteria, a romantic comedy about the development of the world’s first electro-mechanical vibrator, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. It screens on Aug. 2.
