TEDxToronto is planning its 9th annual conference, and we couldn’t be more excited to reveal more details with you. Each year, we strive to improve and evolve the event based on valued feedback from our passionate community. This year’s focus was on making TEDxToronto more accessible and inclusive, in order to open the experience to a wider range of Toronto communities.
Here are some new changes for 2017:
New & Larger Venue
At Evergreen Brick Works, we will be able to accommodate more guests and create a vibrant TEDxToronto campus atmosphere, bringing the entire delegate experience to another level. Our After-Party will also be held at the same venue!
We’ve moved the conference from a Thursday to Friday so that more people can easily take the day off and hopefully enjoy the day (and evening) with less distraction.
No More Applications
For the last several years, we’ve had an application process in place where interested delegates would explain why they wished to attend, and how they hoped to share the ideas beyond the conference. We realized that this approach hasn’t provided a fair chance for everyone to access tickets. In an effort to be more inclusive, we have removed the application process, and tickets will be available for general purchase soon.
This year, our community outreach manager is working hard to connect with a diverse set of Toronto communities to spread awareness about the TEDxToronto mission and invite them to join us in the audience. We will also be offering a number of free tickets to community organizations, as we aim to better represent the impressive and diverse fabric of our city.
Whether you have been a longtime delegate and follower of TEDxToronto, or just tuning in for the first time, we truly appreciate your interest, passion and support. We look forward to unveiling what will surely be a new & exciting conference experience.
If you have any questions or comments, we would love to hear from you!
